Anne Wallace

The first ever Art show that I went to was ‘Private Rooms’ by Anne Wallace at Brisbane City Hall in 2000. I went with my mum I think. It was soo great I loved her work. It was bold and over the top and they really made you think…

Anne Wallace was born in 1970 in Brisbane Australia and still lives here. Her education varies from a Master of Arts, Slade School of Fine Art in London (1994-96), Arts Faculty, University of Queensland (1989-93) and Bachelor of Arts (Visual Arts), Queensland University of Technology Brisbane (1990)

From about 1993 she has also been in about 12 Solo Exhibitions, must of them being at Darren Knight Gallery (Sydney), Brisbane City Gallery (Brisbane), Gallery of Modern Art(Brisbane) and  Institute of Modern Art (Brisbane).

My name is Amanda and I’m a Scrapaholic!!

Artist.
Noun…
One, such as a painter, sculptor, or writer, who is able by virtue of imagination and talent or skill to create works of aesthetic value, especially in the fine arts.

I believe myself to be an Artist. I’m not famous and my art works don’t sell for 1000 of dollars but who is to say that I’m not good and that I would be famous one day. Art means different things to different people.

Painting and sculptor is my passion. I haven’t really done either in a very long time. (3 years) I’m not sure why I stopped, its have enough Money, Room and Time maybe. But that’s just an excuse I guess. A cop out!??

I have sold a few of my works of art mainly Painting in my career, I never thought that I would sell any of my works. Not even in my wildest dreams. I really have to thank my boyfriend at the time and Husband Now, Khyam. He really pushed and supported me to believe that I was good enough. He believed in me when noone else did. He is my lover, husband, best friend and my rock. I love him very much and am a better person because of him.

I think I have sold about 20 works of art so there are people out there with my Art hanging in their houses. Maybe it’s a centre piece in a room or it’s in a bedroom or a baby’s room or even a toilet. Where ever it is I wonder what they feel when they look at it. It might stir up feelings from your childhood, or an old relationship or the love they have for someone or just make them feel good about themselves. Or they gave it to someone as a Gift and every time that person looks at it they think about the Giver of the gift. Now that really blows my mind!!

As I haven’t really been able to paint and burn off my artist energies, I have turned my artist flair to Scrapbooking. I know your thinking... “did Amanda age about 30 years”… I know it’s a very different medium but it’s very similar. You have to really think and plan a page. What you want this page to say to people and what it means to you. What colours and ascents go together and what photos and layouts you want to use. Adding Titles, Flowers, Journaling, Buttons, Stickers, Lace, Ribbon and Rhinestones, Plus there are about a million things I don’t know about yet.

My name is Amanda and I’m a Scrapaholic!!

There I said it. I haven’t really finished an album yet. Well I did an album last year, but that was when I was starting out so it’s a bit plain and boring. I had finished my Wedding Album but then I thought it was too basic and boring so I’m starting again. I’m also doing one of this year and one for our USA trip. So I have three on the go. I will finish my Wedding Album then get on the holiday one.

This blog will be about my life, scrapbooking and anything I find inspirational along the way! I hope you like my blog. Until next time.
